Hitachi Travelstar 7K500 is the industryโs only fifth-generation 7200 RPM 2.5-inch hard drive with capacities ranging from 120GB to 500GB. The 320GB per platter one- and two-disk models deliver up to 56% higher capacity and 16% better application performance than its predecessor. With its halogen-free production and low power consumption, the 7K500 carries the Hitachi EcoTrac classification, together with outstanding operating shock resistant capability and power management for reliable, unplugged notebook performance. Designed to support the high-performance needs of multitasking commercial users and consumers on-the-go, Travelstar 7K500 offers speed without sacrificing battery life, capacity or acoustics. In addition, Hitachi offers optional hard-drive-level encryption for users looking for increased data security and models with enhanced availability (EA) to deliver high-capacity storage for non-stop environments.
Hitachi Proven fifth-generation 7200 RPM 2.5โโ hard drive delivers outstanding application performance with up to 1245Mb/s media transfer rate, as well as nearly inaudible operation.
The Hitachi Travelstar 7K500 features low power consumption with 1.8W average read/write and 0.2W in idle. Low power consumption means extended battery life, thus more โunpluggedโ notebook time.
400G operating shock (1000G non-operating shock) resistant capability protects your drive against bumps and rough handling. Altitude-sensing Thermal Fly-height Control (TFC) allows better soft error rate for improved reliability. TrueTrack Technology ensures tracking accuracy in high shock or vibration.
Travelstar 7K500 features optional Bulk Data Encryption (BDE) for hard-drive-level data security. With BDE, the data is scrambled using a key as it is written to the disk then descrambled with the key as it is retrieved, giving you the highest level of data protection available. It also speeds and simplifies the drive re-deployment process. By deleting the encryption key, the data is rendered unreadable, thereby eliminating the need for time-consuming data-overwrite.
