Input:
- HDMI Input: 1 x HDMI (Type A Female).
- HDMI Version Support: Often supports HDMI 1.3 or 1.4, which is sufficient for 1080p signals. It typically does NOT support HDMI 2.0 or higher features like HDR or 4K@60Hz, as the output is standard definition.
- HDCP Support: Many basic converters do NOT support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection). This means you might need to turn off HDCP on your source device if it has that option, or some protected content (like from Blu-ray players or streaming services) might not display. Higher-quality converters might offer limited HDCP bypass.
- Supported HDMI Input Resolutions: These converters can accept a wide range of HDMI input resolutions, which they then downscale to standard definition. Common supported input resolutions include:
- 480p / 60Hz
- 576p / 50Hz
- 720p / 50Hz, 60Hz
- 1080i / 50Hz, 60Hz
- 1080p / 50Hz, 60Hz
- PC resolutions like 640×480, 800×600, 1024×768, 1280×720, 1280×1024, 1360×768, 1600×1200 @ 60Hz
Output:
- AV (Composite Video) Output: 1 x RCA Yellow (for video).
- Video Standard: User-selectable between PAL and NTSC. This is usually done via a physical switch on the converter itself.
- NTSC: Used primarily in North America, Japan, and parts of South America. Outputs at 480i (interlaced) at approximately 29.97 frames per second (or 60 fields per second).
- PAL: Used in Europe, Australia, most of Asia, and Africa. Outputs at 576i (interlaced) at 25 frames per second (or 50 fields per second).
- Resolution: The output resolution is standard definition (SD), typically 720×480 for NTSC and 720×576 for PAL. It will always be interlaced (i).
- Video Standard: User-selectable between PAL and NTSC. This is usually done via a physical switch on the converter itself.
- Analog Audio Output: 2 x RCA White (Left Stereo Audio) and Red (Right Stereo Audio).
- Converts the digital audio from the HDMI signal into standard analog stereo audio.
